I saw this over the weekend at the Guggenheim. Fucked up shit...

Let me ask you guys this... what the hell was that thing? I mean, as I wandered around the exhibit, I was struck by just how silly it all seemed. By the time I reached the pigeons at the top level, the wife and I, we were in stitches. That said, there were a lot of people standing around who seemed to be pondering The Cremaster.

Barney's clearly got some talent, at least on some level. I mean, those photos were rather striking... but what the hell is up with that story? The sculpture made out of vaseline? (Yes... I touched it... got a bit of the ole' Cremaster on me...)

jon, My girlfriend and I think Barney's stuff is funny, too. How will these movies (films?) do in distribution? Who is going to see these thing? I know I will, but I'll be the guy laughing and throwing popcorn at the screen. Here's to hoping that people approach Cremaster (and all art) with their humor hats on.

I think Barney's films are exquisite works of art. He's the Dali of the 21st century. He mixes cinema with performance art, and sculpture to boot. I, for one, was blown away by his "fucked up shit."

Some things cannot be taught, only discovered.
