MTA is exploring corporate branding opportunities for NYC subway stations. In 30 years, everything (individuals, pets, the beach, US currency, the atmosphere, national parks, Spain, etc.) will be branded by a corporation.

We could get to name famous bloggers by corporation. Kottke would get the sponsorship from, I don't know, Yahoo. Other people would get IBM, MT, etc.
We are already seeing a lot of Google ads, might as well use the complete sponsor system.
And, in conferences and the like, you could wear patches in your tshirt and decals on your laptop.

Have you read Jennifer Government? Because total corporate sponsoship is the backdrop to the novel. Everyone is named for the company or ngo or government they work for -- e.g., John Nike, Buy Mitsui, Billy NRA, etc.

The book isn't that great, but it's worth it just for the dystopic riff on the future.

That book sounds interesting. Reminds me of the "Year of the Depend Adult Undergarment", etc. in Infinite Jest.
