That was only a couple minutes on google. Regardless of your political leanings, it's easy to find quotes from either party that, sadly, could be confused with the tarnishing of a trilogy by adding Jar-Jar, toilet humor, and dead-pan dialogue.

I assume the point was that there was a similarity between each person's rhetoric. The point didn't hold with me, though; I guessed correctly in each case who was responsible for each remark. The Bush remarks seemed reasonable in the context of our society today, whereas Palpatine's had a more ominous edge.

I think the point was that you'd assume there was going to be a similiarity, then found out that there really wasn't a similarity, and because that was unexpected, you laughed. For example, they didn't really think that you'd think "Now witness the power of this fully operational battle station!" was a Bush quote. It's McSweeney's, not Mad Magazine.

But I thought it was funny that some of Lucas's lines were even dumber than Bush's.

I thought the point was that you were to insert Bush _into_ the Star Wars movies and Palpatine into the White House, saying the respective lines.
