The title of this post is wrong,

The title of this post is wrong, should be "syndication via HTTP is raging".

Are you saying that because you feel Dave is boasting about RSS or because the post is about getting RSS and ATOM to play together? If you mean the former, I feel he is well within his rights to brag about the increasing popularity of RSS. It certainly is raging. As for the latter, you're correct. This is my feeble attempt to not assume too much by simply reading a one line post.

IMO (and I think this is jason's point), it's not so much the format that people are excited about, it's the functionality. People like syndicating content over net, and don't care (much) how they do it. RSS is popular now because it's established. I imagine once Atom (or possibly, but unlikely, rssAtom) stabilizes it will become more popular because of it's additional functionality, and better documented and (arguably) more open spec .

I've been idly wondering lately whether - if there had been a simple contract over the rights to the name and other intellectual property rights associated with RSS signed back then - would we notice this story now as much? Would syndication be years ahead of where we find it now?

Dave Winer says:

RSS is raging. I was mystified when I first saw this post. I figured it was just flame bait, and decided not to take it.
