Wired now has weblogs

Wired now has weblogs. Which irritates me because I talked to them a year and a half ago about doing a Wired weblog and they said they *legally* could do no such thing.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over it - the "kottke" brand is possibly as valuable as the "wired" brand.

Wired.com and Wired are two seperate companies: wired.com (owned by lycos) and Wired (owned by Condé Nast). Maybe there was an agreement to not develop new properties with the Wired name.

Wired News is owned by Lycos, which also owns Tripod.com, which recently unveiled their new Blog Builder tool. Lycos properties are being encouraged to add Blog Builder content to support the new product.
