The BBC showed a great documentary on him a year ago. He also does animal pictures; and seemed a bit of a slave driver - he was in the lebanon i taking pictures of a building being demolished; and then of the bekaa valey and the cedar tree's. He spent a lot of time exasperated (as all good artists should be; and his assistant ) with the process of the documentary, the hassle of getting lebanese army (?syrian ?) pilots to hover where he wanted - and that they demolised the building early - but did spend a lot of time saying that the photographs are about showing the planet as it is before we totaly destory it ...

I saw the exhibit at the Science Museum where the pictures are supersized (meters across) with messages about the state of our country; that is a great way to see them. I think it travels the world

i saw an exihibition of his work two(?) years ago here in berlin.
some really impressive photos ...

His exhibition certainly toured the world, and perhaps still is. I went to see it twice in Amsterdam last autumn... it made it even stranger too look at these exotic pictures in the freezing cold.

Yeah I caught his exhibition in London last year, outside the Natural History museum. What a bonus that was, I took a few pics of the whole thing but taking photos of his photos just seemed rude. What an eye that man has. Wonderful to see them again.

Bertrand published a beautiful coffee table book containing his photos and brief texts on them. It's a great read and a nice way to pass the time on your back porch waiting for the pork chops to grill on a clear sunny day as I did a couple of weeks ago.
