Did you know that George Lucas approached David Lynch about directing Return of the Jedi? After a visit to Lucas' studio described here by Lynch, Lynch turned Lucas down pretty quickly. But what might have been, huh? Well, this fan-made trailer gives us a taste of a Lynch-helmed Star Wars movie. (via one perfect shot)
From Nelson Carvajal, an examination of the visual influences of Beyonce's Lemonade visual album, from Pipilotti Rist to Terrence Malick to David Lynch.
The biggest influence present in Lemonade, is that of the great Terrence Malick. Imagery from his films To The Wonder and The Tree of Life (in particular a standout sequence involving a bedroom underwater) definitely inspired a lot of the overall tone of introspection and spiritual reflection that Beyoncé is striving for here. One of Lemonade's directors, Kahlil Joseph, shot B-roll on Malick's To The Wonder, so the impressionistic style of filmmaking has obviously carried over.
David Lynch's hair compares favorably to several works of art, mostly modern, including Starry Night, Water Lilies, and Lichtenstein's Brush Stroke.
Just, wow.
David Lynch likes a lot of different filmmakers. These are some of them:

In this video, Lynch describes a visit with George Lucas and why he turned down Lucas' offer to direct Return of the Jedi.
So, he took me upstairs and he showed me these things called Wookiees. And now this headache is getting stronger.

Update: David Lynch isn't travelling around...his son Austin and Jason S. are co-directing. (thx, eric)
Videos of David Lynch and folk rocker Donovan talking about the creative process. I tuned in for Lynch but I found Donovan's thoughts more interesting. The videos are part of a larger Ideas issue of The Atlantic Monthly.
Video of David Lynch putting a fan's panties in his mouth. Not much to add.

Behind-the-scenes of a Gucci perfume ad directed by Lynch, referencing his own most recent feature, Inland Empire. Finished commercial here. (via spoutblog)
Upon watching Inland Empire, I was so immediately immersed, my first thought was that David Lynch should only ever shoot video. Apparently, he feels the same.
Antony Hare is one of the few people from the olden days (i.e. 8-10 years ago) that I still check in on regularly...I really dig his simple illustrations. For the past few months, he's been putting time-lapse videos of some of his drawings on YouTube, including a drawing of Steve Jobs, one of Robert Altman, and another of David Lynch.
David Lynch, in an effort last month to promote Laura Dern's performance in his film, Inland Empire, for consideration by the Academy, set up shop on Hollywood Blvd. with a huge sign and a cow.
